In fact, most coaches will spend the majority of practice time on a variety of drills in the hopes they will ultimately help their ballplayers improve their performance.
However, it's very important that you select the right drills for yourself or someone you're coaching. Simply doing something you saw a Major Leaguer do or a "new" drill does not guarantee success and often impede progress.
That's why I've put together a checklist you should go over before selecting a drill to implement.

How to select baseball drills:

1. Ask yourself, "Why am I doing this drill?"
Please don't do a drill just for the sake of doing it. Be sure there is a specific purpose to that individual drill. It is very hard to work on more than one thing at a time (and even harder for kids to focus on more than one thing at a time) so be sure to pick out drills that match what you're trying to work on.

2. Ask yourself, "Is my player ready for this baseball drill?"
Quite often I see a coach, parent or player attempt a drill that is obviously too advanced for them. Contrary to popular belief (and ignorance) doing so will simply result in poor technique and loss of confidence, the dreaded "double-whammy" for a baseball player. Doing the hitting drill Albert Pujols does now will not urn your kid into the same type of hitter. It simply doesn't work that way. If you player needs work on the basics of his swing, don't have him doing advanced bat sped drills. Save that for when the player is comfortable with his stance, load and swing.

3. Walk before you run
This builds on my last rule. It may not be "sexy", but you can never do too many baseball exercises that focus on the basics. You want this to be second nature. This is the building block of the player. While this is not news to most, I rarely see this implemented properly. Quite often it's a race to add a new drill as if that signifies "advancement". I'm here to tell you it doesn't. Just because you can do a new drill, doesn't mean you have advanced or even that it can carry over to a game. Real advancement is being able to make the basics look easy and effortlessly. This takes a great deal of working on the basics.

4. Where are you getting your information from?
Be careful to who you listen to. These days, with the advent of the Internet, every Tom, Dick and Harry is a baseball coaching expert. It's quite sad really. I'm not saying these individuals have bad intentions. It's just the blind leading the blind. Be sure you are getting your info from real coaches who have had real-life success developing winning teams and great players. This should be your main source for baseball exercises.

Use these simple, yet very powerful "rules" in selecting your baseball drills and your team will be on its way to winning!

By Jon Doyle in baseballtrainingsecrets.com

You could also see others Baseball Tips below :

No Shortcut To Athletic Success By Harry Lloyd

How To Select Baseball Bats By Jon Doyle.

Hitting Secret : Early Bat Speed By Jon Doyle.

No Shortcut to Athletic Success

For the athlete, success is dependent upon winning, and winning is dependent upon motivation...and more apply self-motivation.The same can be said about success itself.Success requires effort, and there are too few who are willing to pay the price of success. Self-motivation arises from some inner cause, wish, drive, or need that requires no external reason. This is the type of motivation which is so vitally important to the champion athlete.
The athlete must always remember that the burdens of physical effort and internal motivation are his own responsibility. He alone is accountable for his actions, choices, and decisions.

More likely than not… all other factors being equal, the difference between successful and unsuccessful athletes boils down to internal motivation. This internal motivation is the ability of the individual athlete to develop strength, desire, willpower and determination to reach a chosen, worthy goal.
If he wants to achieve success, the motivation that will drive him toward that objective must come from within.

The internal motivation necessary for athletic success is based on the principle that human beings become the end products of their thoughts. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "a man becomes what he thinks about all day long.” According to William James, “human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” Simply put, a man becomes what his thoughts dwell upon. Therefore the basic law of athletic motivation is simply that an athlete becomes what he chooses to think about. The establishment of specific goals is perhaps the most important personal decision an athlete can make for himself if he is to experience success. In order to become a better player, the athlete must have self-directed goals and devote all of his energies toward reaching them.

Andrew Carnegie, one of America’s first billionaires, once said “No one has been known to succeed without first applying the principle of definite purpose.”
David Schwartz, who wrote the best seller The Magic of Thinking Big, said: “Nothing happens, no forward steps are taken until a goal is established. Without goals, people just wander through life. They stumble along, never knowing where they are going.”

There are a few principles you should adhere to when establishing your goals:

For Pitchers
Forget about establishing a certain number of games to win individually.

For Hitters
Do not focus on a specific batting average for the season. This type of goal could be a failure trap or a limitation on your potential.

These types of goals do more harm than good and they can destroy attitudes.

Secondly
Whether you are a pitcher, hitter, or fielder, look upon yourself as not having weaknesses. Instead consider weaknesses as undeveloped skills. As you begin to develop the skills that you are working on, your attitude begins to say “I can” rather than “I can’t.” Remember, you only have undeveloped skills and great possibilities.

Thirdly
The best goals to establish for yourself should relate to the job at hand. These are present tense goals. For instance, “throw a good, low strike,” or “see the ball.” These are the goals within the player’s immediate control during the game.

How Can an Athlete Motivate Himself?

The following nine truths will help you to become self-motivated and successful as an athlete:

1. Set definite, realistic goals.
Put them in writing and work on them each and every day.

2. Develop a desire and a willingness to work toward the completion of your goals.
The earlier a player dedicates himself to peak performance, the more likely he is to achieve it.

3. Believe in your ability.
Acknowledge your talent. Confidence acknowledges your talent. Confidence always precedes success!

   4. Pay strict attention to self-discipline.
There is a price on everything, including success. Pay the price!

   5. Develop a positive mental attitude.
Say only positive things about others. Think only in positive terms.
Winners think: I can...I will...I’ll adjust...I’ll find a way.

   6. Never be satisfied with your knowledge, performance or skill.
Always be thinking of ways to improve.

   7. Learn from defeat or temporary failure.
Anyone who is undefeated has never met strong enough opponents. Never become satisfied with failure. You may get beat on the scoreboard, but never get beat in the Heart!

   8. Never have an alibi.
The best excuse is one you never make!

   9. Share with and help others instead of being selfish.

If you have a burning love and joy for the game, and work up to your maximum potential, there is an internal reward…the reward of doing the best possible job. Stand aside and let your potential shine through!

By Harry Lloyd in baseball-articles.com

How To Select Baseball Bats

To a hitter, his baseball bat means everything. Players spend countless hours deciding which baseball bat they will take to the plate with them during their next at-bat. Choose the wrong bat and, at least mentally, you might as well give up.
The batter must have supreme confidence that his choice of bat is the right tool for the job. When standing in and facing 90 miles per hour fastballs every advantage is needed in order to succeed.
I think we've all heard the stories of players packing their bats in it's own special suitcase, spending hours ensuring each bat is "battle-ready, and even going as far as sleeping with their bats to develop a "bond". Now if that doesn't say commitment I don't know what does!

So how should you go about picking the right bat for your needs?
It's pretty simple really as long as you learn to trust you body. If a bat feels uncomfortable after about 5-10 swings get rid of it. It's not the one for you. You body and swing must be in tune with the weight, length, handle size and overall balance of the baseball bat. If those factors are not comfortable to you individually then you will have a problem.
For me I needed a thin handled bat. I even went as far as ripping the leather handle off the metal bat and replacing with thin athletic tape to get the handle as thin as I possibly could. For some of my teammates this was very uncomfortable. They took the exact opposite route and added tape to their bat handles to make it thicker. To them this was comfortable.
And you know who was right? We both were. This is because we individually learned how to select a baseball bat specifically built for our needs. And we were all very successful with our chosen tools.
Ok so now that you understand how important "feel" is to selecting a bat, let's move on to technology. There are so many baseball bats to choose from nowadays it can get very confusing very fast. This is because every company claims their bat is the best. So, who do you listen to?
Again, listen to yourself! Just because the state's best player uses the Easton Stealth baseball bat, does not mean you should. The Stealth might be the best option for you, but it also may be the worst. The only way you will find out is if you try it out, preferably in a game situation. But I do realize that other people's feedback is important in selecting a bat. Just don't make it the only reason you select a particular baseball bat.
So to help you out here is our list of the top 5 bats. This list was generated from feedback of players and coaches from around the country.
1. Mattingly Baseball - The Beast
2. Easton Stealth
3. Louisville Slugger EXO
4. DeMarini Vexxum
5. Mattingly baseball - V-Grip MVP
Now go out, select the right baseball bat for you and hit missiles all over the field!

By Jon Doyle in baseballtrainingsecrets.com

Baseball Bats Overview

A baseball bat has significant role in baseball sport .
